No Light Within

See it on their faces.

Despair is their closest friend.

They yearn for nothing different.

To them, there’s no good end.

What’s wrong with this picture?

Why is there no will to fight?

The problem is, they know only darkness;

For without hope there is no light.

Let’s not pretend we don’t see them!

Let’s not think that we’re too good!

We should see them through love’s eyes.

Then, we’ll see them as we should.

Mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers.

We’re them, but in light of the day.

Though we have more advantage; let’s never forget,

Could be us one paycheck away.

The proof of love is in giving.

They need us, so for them, let us fight.

We have what they need, we have only to give.

When we share our hope,

We will bring them light!
