Above You Only God
(a man’s quest to find a wife)
I found a gem tucked and hidden away, in the field of God on a sunny day
I thought to myself, how can this be that this precious gem now belongs to me?
I fell on my knees and gave my God praise for the love he’s shown and this gift He gave
To increase my joy and enhance my life. This possession of value is now my wife.
My Father has granted me favor; for I found my good thing; you see.
Before you were ever created, He’d planned you already for me.
Now my life has changed forever; though I was blessed before; it is true.
But, some pleasures I had never known. Now I know I was waiting for you.
What a blessing to wake each morning, seeing the love in your eyes shining through.
Expressions of joy escape me and I say, “only God above you.”
You have my sincere devotion. When trouble comes, I’ll help you through.
And if anyone should mistreat you, I promise, I’ll deal with them too.
You’re a woman of excellence and beauty. Of your caliber, there are only a few.
I bestow my love and high honor and I say, “only God above you.”
The giver is greater than the gift given. So to hurt you, would be to hurt God.
I’ll treasure your heart as God treasures me. Loving you will never be hard.
What more can I say of your value? How can I express what’s your due?
You’re my Queen, my virtuous lady and I say,
“Only God Above You.”
